Allen Park sits roughly twelve miles southwest of downtown Detroit, and from Fairlane Green the Southfield Freeway runs north toward Greenfield. It’s a straightforward trip on one road for most of its length, which matters because the useful way to buy a suit involves making it twice.
The first time
Measurement, several jackets tried rather than one accepted, a look while seated, and then the pinning. Bring the shoes that will be worn with the suit, since the length is cut to a specific heel and not to a general idea of one.
The second time
The finished suit goes on and gets worn around the shop for a few minutes. Faults that hid while it was pinned show up once a body moves in it, and they are the last few millimetres that make a suit look deliberate.
What each visit can hold
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, frequently completes the smallest jobs before a customer leaves. Larger work is different: he quotes the job and confirms the completion date before he starts, and the second run up the Southfield gets planned around that date.
