Made, not marked up

What you’re actually paying for

We manufacture our own lines and buy premium closeouts direct, so you pay for fabric and construction instead of a designer label.

Our wool suits run $259 to $299 — mostly 100% wool, with a few high-wool blends — and our half-canvassed luxury line, with a floating canvas chest that softens to your shape instead of going stiff, runs $300 to $500.

Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, works on site inside our store, so you can get pinned for alterations the same day you buy instead of hunting for a tailor afterward.

Three tiers. No mystery about what separates them.

Everyday Classics

$139 to $159

For a first suit, a growing teenager, or a one-time occasion.

  • Black and navy from $139, other colors and patterns $159
  • Synthetic blends that hold a press and travel well
  • Not wool, and we won’t tell you otherwise
Most chosen

Signature Wool

$259 to $299

What most of our customers walk out in, and what we’d put on our own family.

  • Real wool in weights that breathe
  • Most are 100%, a few high-wool blends, and the tag tells you which
  • Less than a comparable suit at the mall, because we make this line ourselves

Half-Canvassed Luxury

$300 to $500

A floating canvas chest that softens to your shape instead of going stiff.

  • Better fabrics and other brands, bought as closeouts, so you’re not paying a designer markup
  • You’d usually pay more for this construction elsewhere

Every tier is in stock, from 34S to 70L. Portly sizes are the same price as every other size.

Outside the tiers

Most of the floor falls into those three. The rest is designer and premium-mill closeouts that don’t follow the pattern, including fused suits priced above half-canvassed ones, because sometimes the fabric or the label is genuinely worth more than the construction. If you’re looking at one of those, we’ll tell you exactly what you’re paying for and why.

Thirty days to change your mind

Full refund within 30 days, any reason, no explanation needed. Exchanges up to 90 days on non-seasonal items. Alterations are the last step — once a suit has been altered or the tags are off, it’s yours.

Take it home unaltered first. Wear it, see it in your own mirror, show whoever’s opinion actually matters. When you’re sure, bring it back and Roman will fit it. Alterations are permanent, so we’d rather you be certain than fast.

Alterations

Lincoln Tailor at The Suit Depot

Roman is a master tailor with 35 years in the trade. Lincoln Tailor is his own business inside our store, and he quotes and prices each job himself. He does everything from a basic hem to bigger work, once he’s seen the garment.

Basic alterations, often while you wait

For bigger work, Roman looks at the garment, quotes the job, and tells you when it’ll be ready before he starts. Alterations are optional and priced separately, so a suit that already fits costs you nothing more.

The House

A great suit is an investment. Ours look like one. They just don’t cost like one.

It started on eBay. Today it’s Michigan’s largest men’s suit store: one floor in Oak Park with thirty-two thousand suits on it, from a first interview suit to black tie for the big day.

We’re a family business. Nobody here is on commission, so nobody pushes, and every price is one we can explain. A first suit here tends to turn into the second and the third. When our neighbors have needed us, from thousands of masks in a hard year to socks for Detroiters in need, we’ve shown up.

For the moments that matter

The reason we’re here.

A wedding. An interview. Your son’s bar mitzvah. A Sunday service. A funeral. Every man should walk into those rooms looking sharp and feeling right. Nobody should be priced out or sized out of that.

No one’s size is an inconvenience.

Portly fits, drop sizes and separates are our specialty, at the same price as everything else.

We sell on how a suit is built, not the name on the tag.

We look at the fabric, the canvas and the fit. We carry a designer label only when the construction earns its price, and we tell you what you’re paying for.

You can’t feel the fabric through a screen. So we felt it for you.

Whoever you talk to here knows the product and cares how you look. Nobody here works on commission.

Before you come in

No. Walk in any time we’re open and someone will help you. If you’d rather have a set time with a stylist blocked out for you, you can book a fitting. It’s free, takes about 45 minutes, and there’s no obligation to buy.

Men’s suits from 34 short to 70 long, including portly sizes, and boys’ suits in sizes 4 to 20. We also sell select men’s suits as separates, so you can pair a jacket and trousers in different sizes instead of being forced into one that only half fits. We don’t stock a labeled “athletic cut,” but that usually just means a drop 8, a bigger gap between jacket chest and trouser waist, and separates get you there. If you’ve been told you’re hard to fit, this is the part of our store we’re proudest of.

No one here works on commission, so nobody has a reason to push you into something. Our stylists will tell you when a jacket doesn’t work on your shoulders, and they’ll tell you when the cheaper suit is the right call.

Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, has his shop inside our store, so you can be measured, chalked and pinned the same day you buy instead of hunting for a tailor afterward. Basic alterations can often be done while you wait. For bigger work, he looks at the garment, quotes the job, and tells you when it’ll be ready before he starts. He sets his own prices.

Yes. Come in and tell whoever greets you what you need it for, and we’ll get you into something appropriate quickly and quietly. Roman can often handle small alterations while you wait, and for bigger work he’ll confirm what he can finish before your date. You won’t have to explain yourself twice.

We manufacture our own lines and buy premium closeouts direct, so you’re paying for fabric and construction instead of a designer license. We also don’t carry the overhead of a mall storefront or a commissioned sales floor.

Return it within 30 days for a full refund, any reason, no explanation needed. After that we’ll exchange non-seasonal items up to 90 days. The one exception is alterations: once a suit has been altered or the tags are off, we can’t take it back, so take it home unaltered first and come back to Roman once you’re sure.

Tuxedo rentals can’t be returned once they’ve been worn. Custom orders can’t be refunded either, but we’ll keep altering until it’s right and remake it if the fit isn’t there.
