Custom here starts at $599, with two or three fittings along the way, and how long it takes depends on the cloth and the fittings, so ask Ben for the current timeline for your date. For a man across the county each fitting is a freeway and a morning. For a Berkley man it’s down Coolidge or Greenfield from Twelve Mile, which means he can take every fitting as seriously as the first one instead of trying to get the second and third done in one visit.
The first fitting is numbers
Ben takes twenty measurements himself, and the consultant puts the bolts in front of you: Reda, Zegna, VBC, Marzotto and Style Biella. Choose the cloth for the days it will actually be worn. A suit for two hundred workdays wants a weight that recovers overnight on a hanger; a suit for one wedding can be lighter and more beautiful.
The middle fitting is the one to keep
This is where the suit is on you for the first time and everything can still move: the shoulder against your actual slope, the sleeve against your wrist, the button against your waist. Men who rush this fitting get a suit that’s nearly right. Men who come back for it get one that is.
The last fitting
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, does the final pass with the shoes you brought. Then the suit is yours, cut to twenty numbers that were yours before it was.
