The ten days from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur fill Temple Beth El, Michigan’s first Jewish congregation, at Telegraph and Fourteen Mile since 1973. A man who isn’t in a suit fifty weeks a year is in one for the longest services of the year, sometimes twice in a day, and the suit he chose for a wedding in June is not necessarily the suit for that.
Comfort is a fabric, not a size
The instinct is to go a size up to be comfortable seated for hours. Don’t. Go the right size in a better cloth. A wool that breathes, from the Signature Wool tier at $259 to $299, sits well for four hours where a stiff blend doesn’t, and it looks right standing when the ark is opened.
Color for the season
Navy or charcoal, a white shirt, a tie in a quiet color. Something that is right on the first day and not tired by the tenth.
Fitted for sitting and standing
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, fits the jacket so it closes standing and does not pull seated, which is the one fit a long service tests. Come in before the holidays are on top of you. We’re on Greenfield, just south of I-696.
