Custom starts at $599 here, and the great majority of men who order it have never in their lives been properly measured for a garment. Ben takes twenty measurements himself, which takes a while and is more personal than most people anticipate, and it’s worth knowing that in advance rather than discovering it standing on a floor.
What’s actually being recorded
Not just size. Asymmetries: one shoulder lower, one arm longer, a stance that carries slightly forward. Nearly everybody has several and nearly nobody knows about their own, because no rack suit has ever acknowledged them.
Which is the part that surprises people
Being told, factually and without judgement, that your right shoulder sits lower than your left. It isn’t a criticism, it’s a specification, and it’s the reason the finished jacket hangs the way a rack suit never has for you.
Then the process is unhurried
How long it takes depends on the cloth and on the fittings, two or three of them, with Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, at the end. Ask Ben for the current timeline for your date.
