A groom marrying at the water in Commerce, with a photographer at the dock and the light coming off the lake, gets one afternoon of pictures that last the rest of his life. A rack suit fitted well does that afternoon justice. A custom suit does it better, and the difference is in the shoulders and the cloth.
The shoulders
A rack suit fits a size and is altered toward you. A custom suit is cut to twenty measurements Ben takes himself, so a sloped shoulder or a long arm is built in rather than corrected afterward. In the dock photograph that shows as a man at ease in his jacket.
The cloth for the lake
The bolts come from Reda, Zegna, VBC, Marzotto and Style Biella, and the consultant picks the weight for the month: lighter for a July afternoon on the water, more body for a September one. Tell the consultant the date and the time of day.
The calendar
The time it takes rests on the cloth off the bolt and the two to three fittings between, with Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, doing the last of them, so ask Ben for the current timeline for your date as soon as the lake is booked. Custom starts at $599.
