When the East course opened on April 11, 1925, Warren Valley became a thirty-six-hole public facility, which is the operative word. It was not a private club. Anyone could play it, which means the people on it came from every part of the surrounding area and every kind of household, and that is very much what a wedding in Dearborn Heights looks like.
A mixed guest list is the norm here
Different backgrounds, different expectations about formality, different amounts of money in the room. A wedding party has to work for all of it at once and cannot be pitched at any one group.
Which argues against extremes
Black tie in a mixed room makes guests who didn’t know feel wrong-footed. Something too casual leaves anyone who dressed up looking foolish. A well-fitted dark suit is legible and appropriate to everyone present, and that’s the whole point of it.
Getting the party there
One cloth agreed with several of them in the room and ordered together; ask about group pricing for parties of five or more. Each man fitted individually afterward, and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, setting the lengths.
