A man who presents upstairs at Ford World Headquarters wears a suit two hundred days a year, and the ones that reach that room usually own at least one that was cut for them. Custom starts at $599 here, and for a daily suit the money is in one decision more than any other: the bolt.
The bolt for two hundred days
A wedding suit is chosen for a photograph; this one is chosen for a year of Mondays. The consultant will steer you to the harder-wearing cloths from Reda, VBC and Marzotto, the ones that recover overnight on a hanger and don’t shine at the elbow by spring. Take the steer, even when the Zegna next to it looks better on the table.
Cut for the meeting
Ben takes the twenty measurements the way you sit as well as stand: room in the seat, a rise that holds at the waist through a long presentation, a jacket that buttons clean when you get up to shake a hand.
The clock
Two to three fittings, with the timing set by the cloth you choose, the mill’s production schedule and those fittings, and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, finishes it. If a date is circled, ask Ben for the current timeline for your date; if not, start it in the slow part of the year so it’s hanging in the closet before the busy part.
