Renaissance High School was founded in 1978, on ground that had been Catholic Central, and graduated its first senior class in 1981. Those graduates are now in their sixties. Whatever they wore in 1981, the suit they need today is a different object with a different purpose, and almost nobody adjusts for that.
What changes after sixty
The occasions. Fewer interviews, more weddings of other people’s children, more funerals, more events where a man is a guest of honor rather than a candidate. The suit stops being a tool for advancement and becomes a matter of presence.
What that means practically
Comfort matters more and fashion matters less, and neither of those is a compromise. A slightly easier cut through the body, worn well, looks considerably better at sixty-five than a close cut worn tightly.
And the shape has moved
Almost everyone’s has. A rack running 34 short to 70 long, portly included, means the shape a man actually has is on it, and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, does the rest.
