Keego Harbor is half a square mile on the east shore of Cass Lake, the third-smallest city by land area in Michigan: fifteen shops, a dozen restaurants and two galleries on Cass Lake Road and Orchard Lake Road. A town that size sends you out for some things. A suit in your size, in more than one cloth, is one of them, and it’s worth knowing what you’re driving toward before you go.
Your size, five times over
Thirty-two thousand suits on one floor means a 46 long isn’t a phone call to a warehouse. It’s a section. So is a 34 short, and so is a portly, and the rack runs from one end of that range to the other. The difference for a man who has always been hard to fit is that he tries on five suits that fit and keeps the best one, instead of keeping the one that fit at all.
Three prices in one room
The tiers hang together: Everyday Classics at $139 to $159, Signature Wool at $259 to $299, half-canvassed at $300 to $500. Nobody on our floor is on commission, so the consultant has no reason to walk you up a tier, and the advice about the occasion is the same at all three.
Then the tailor, without leaving the building
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, works on site in our store. He pins the hem while you’re still in the suit, and small jobs he can often do while you wait. From Keego it’s Orchard Lake Road to Telegraph, Telegraph south to I-696 east, off at Greenfield.
