A wedding in Laurel Manor’s largest ballroom puts you in front of 1,200 people, and over the night every one of them sees you from a different distance. The back tables at forty feet during the entrance. The front table at arm’s length over dinner. The photographer at six feet, all day. A rack suit fitted well handles one of those distances. Custom is how you handle all three.
The far distance
From the back of the room a suit is a silhouette, and a silhouette is the shoulder line and the jacket length. Ben takes twenty measurements himself, and two of them, the slope of each shoulder, are the ones no rack suit was ever cut for. Built in rather than padded over, the shoulder reads clean from any distance.
The near distance
At arm’s length the suit is cloth, and the bolts here come from Reda, Zegna, VBC, Marzotto and Style Biella. Tell the consultant the month and the room, and the weight follows: A big ballroom in June is warm by the second hour, and the right cloth is why you still look at ease at eleven.
The calendar
Timing rests on the cloth and on how the two or three fittings go, with Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, at the last one, so ask Ben for the current timeline for your date. Custom starts at $599. Order it before the invitations go out, so the suit isn’t the last thing finished.
