Most men order their first custom suit for a wedding. The second custom suit is a different purchase, and the man who got through his first ninety days at a Novi headquarters on two Signature Wools is the man who orders it. He knows things now that the first one taught him.
What the first fitting taught you
By the second suit you know your own measurements the way you know your shoe size: the sleeve that has to be a half inch longer than the rack thinks, the trouser that needs room in the thigh. Ben takes the twenty measurements again, because bodies change, but now you can tell him what the first suit got right and what you’d move.
The cloth changes
A wedding suit is chosen for a photograph. A daily suit is chosen for a year of Mondays: a cloth from Reda, Zegna, VBC, Marzotto or Style Biella with the weight to recover overnight and a weave that hides a coffee. The consultant will steer you to a harder-wearing bolt than the first time, and he’s right to.
The calendar
The clock still runs on the cloth and on two or three fittings along the way, so ask Ben for the current timeline for your date. The difference is you’ve run it once, so it’s ordered in February for April and nobody’s rushing. Custom starts at $599. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, does the last fitting.
