The outdoor pool at 4 Ridge Road has been running longer than most of the marriages in the city. Its complex was rebuilt in 2004 and it remains what it has always been: the place where a town of 0.57 square miles sees itself in summer. That fact has a consequence for clothes that nobody thinks about until they’re standing in a room.
The same people, every time
In a city this size the guests at a wedding, the neighbors at a fundraiser and the parents at a graduation are largely one group of people seen three times. A man who owns one suit is going to be seen in it by the same audience repeatedly, and there’s nothing wrong with that, provided the suit can take the attention.
Which changes the calculation
It argues for one good suit rather than two mediocre ones. A suit that fits properly is invisible in the best sense and can be worn to everything for years; a suit that does not fit gets noticed the first time and remembered afterward.
And for keeping it right
Bodies move over a decade of these occasions. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, adjusts a waist or a sleeve as they do; small jobs he can often do while you wait.
