Woodward Avenue runs straight through Pleasant Ridge, dividing a city that is already small; the land east of the avenue was platted in 1914 and its first houses went up in 1915 and 1916. A wedding that starts in a city like this collects its party from both sides of Woodward and from every suburb the family has moved through since, which is a logistics problem before it’s a clothes problem.
Solve the logistics once
Pick one evening and get as many of the men into the building as can physically come. Everything that matters is decided that night: which cloth, which color, who is renting and who is buying. Men who can’t make it are then working from a decision rather than a group conversation, which is what actually holds a party together.
What the absent ones still need
Their own measurements taken wherever they are, and a fitting when they arrive. The cloth was settled without them, so what remains is length and sleeve, and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, handles those.
The money
One order covers the party; ask about group pricing for parties of five or more. The groom buys, since this suit reappears at every wedding in the same circle for a decade; half-canvassed, $300 to $500, is built for that.
