Stoney Creek High School on Sheldon Road has been open since 2001 and runs to 420,000 square feet, which is a building a young man can spend four years inside without ever needing a jacket. Then he graduates into a summer that asks for one about six times, and the suit he buys in June is almost always black.
Black is the reflex
It’s what an eighteen-year-old thinks formal means, and it’s the one color that will limit him. A black suit is right for a funeral and slightly wrong everywhere else, which is a strange thing to hand a boy at the start of a summer of weddings and interviews.
Navy is the answer
It handles every one of the six occasions, including the sad one, and it keeps handling them through the first job. If a second suit ever follows, it can be the charcoal, and by then he’ll know why.
Then spend the argument on the fit
Price is the easy decision and fit is the one that shows in a photograph. Bring the shoes he’ll cross the stage in; Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, hems to those, and anything larger than a hem he quotes before he starts. From Rochester Hills it’s I-75 south to I-696 west, off at Greenfield.
