Macomb Mall was built in 1964 for a model of retail that has substantially ended, and it is still open six decades later. It got there by changing what it contains rather than by being replaced, which is the less dramatic of the two options and usually the better one.
Wardrobes work the same way
A suit that no longer suits your life is rarely a suit that needs replacing. More often it needs adjusting, because what changed is the body inside it rather than the garment itself.
What adjusting reaches
A waist in either direction, a seat, sleeves, the sides of a jacket, and a length recut for whatever shoes you own now. That covers most of what a decade does to a man.
What it doesn’t
The shoulder, which stays where it was cut, and cloth that has worn through. Short of those two, bring it in. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, can often do the smallest jobs while you wait, and for bigger work quotes the job and confirms the completion date before he starts.
