Men drive over from Southfield for the sizes: longs, shorts and big-and-tall on the rack instead of on order. The part they discover once they’re here is separates, and it solves the problem most of them actually have.
The drop is the problem
A suit on a hanger assumes a six-inch drop: a 44 jacket comes with a 38 trouser. Plenty of men are a 44 up top and a 36 below, or a 40 and a 38. For years they have bought the jacket that fit and had the trouser cut down, or the reverse, and lived with a jacket that was never right. Select suits on our floor are sold as separates, so the jacket and the trouser are chosen in the sizes you actually are.
What the tailor does then
With the sizes right, Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, is usually setting only the sleeve length and hem. That basic work is often available the same day, depending on the garment and current workload. He isn’t rebuilding a trouser that was two sizes wrong, which is neither basic nor same day, and which is what you were paying for before.
The rack runs 34 short to 70 long, portly included, all at the same price. From Southfield it is one drive: across Ten Mile past the Evergreen corridor, and the showroom is on the right past the Lincoln Shopping Center.
