Southfield A&T on Lahser Road is a magnet school with nineteen career-pathway academies, which means its seniors spend the spring being presented: prom, then commencement, then the graduation parties. Three rooms, three sets of photographs, one budget.
The three-event rule
For one event, rent. For three, buy, and buy navy. A navy suit from the Everyday Classics tier, $139 to $159, wears to a showcase with a tie, to prom with a bow tie and a pocket square, and to commencement under the gown, and it is still in the closet for the first internship interview in July. Three rentals leave nothing behind; one suit does.
What we do differently for a seventeen-year-old
It gets made with room to let out. A boy who is 36 short in March may not be by June, and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, can often let the trousers out once, where the cloth allows, without a second suit. Nobody here is on commission, so if a rental genuinely suits the family better, that is what we’ll say.
Come in well before the first event. From Lahser it is Ten Mile east to Greenfield; the showroom is on the right past the Lincoln Shopping Center.
