Southgate’s first attempt at a city charter failed in December 1957. Rather than abandoning the idea, a second charter was drafted, put to the electors in September 1958, and passed, and the city was incorporated on October 8, 1958. The gap between the failure and the incorporation was under a year.
The useful part is the redraft
Not the persistence, which everyone praises, but the fact that they wrote a different document rather than resubmitting the same one and hoping. Something had been wrong and they went and found it.
Most men do the opposite with suits
A suit doesn’t look right, and instead of identifying what’s wrong, they buy another one at a different price and hope the money solves it. Frequently it’s the same fault twice, because the fault was never diagnosed.
The diagnosis is short
Four things: does the shoulder seam end where your shoulder does, does the jacket close without pulling, does the sleeve show a little shirt cuff, does the trouser break once on the shoe. Three of the four are adjustable by Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store. The first is why you try more than one jacket.
