Among the buildings at the Troy Historic Village on West Wattles Road is a church built in 1837, with its parsonage beside it. Couples marry in front of a hundred and ten seats at most, and every one of those seats is close enough to see your shoes. It is the opposite of a ballroom. There’s nowhere to be loud.
Quiet is the whole look
A dark suit rather than a tuxedo; a tuxedo in a wooden church that takes a hundred and ten is a costume. Charcoal or a deep navy, a white shirt, a tie in a single quiet color, a plain pocket square or none. Shoes polished the night before, because the aisle is short and the front row is close.
Old rooms run cold and then hot
Old rooms are cool in spring and warm in August. A navy from the Signature Wool tier, $259 to $299, is right in both.
One fitting for two men
A wedding this size usually has one best man. Bring him. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, fits both in the same visit so the two of you stand at the front looking like you planned it.
