A June wedding at the Somerset Inn, 2601 West Big Beaver, starts in a garden courtyard and ends on a ballroom floor. You wear one suit through both, which is a harder brief than either half alone. The inn has more than seventeen rooms to hold the second half in.
A cloth for two rooms
Outdoors at five, a heavy cloth is warm. Indoors at nine, on a dance floor, a light one is a relief. The compromise that works is a navy from the Signature Wool tier, $259 to $299, chosen for June and not for January: it looks like a proper suit in the courtyard and breathes on the floor.
What changes between the two
Then the jacket comes off. After dinner it doesn’t go back on, so the shirt and the trousers have to hold up alone. A collar that actually fits the neck keeps standing without the tie. Trousers cut with a proper rise sit where they should when you bend down to a grandmother.
Everyone else’s hems
Bring your groomsmen in together; rentals or purchases go on one order, and five or more earns a discount. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, sets every hem to the shoe each man will actually dance in. From Big Beaver it is I-75 south to I-696 west, off at Greenfield.
