The Kmart headquarters at 3100 West Big Beaver was a Troy landmark for a generation and the last of it was demolished across 2023 and 2024. Kmart moved out in 2006, and the men who worked there still own suits bought for that building. Some of those suits are twenty years old. Some of those men are interviewing again.
What a twenty-year-old suit tells a room
Lapels move. Trousers pleat and unpleat. A suit that was right in 2006 says 2006 before you have said anything, and an interview at fifty-five has enough working against it without the jacket adding to it.
One navy suit, cut for now
One navy suit, cut for the shape you are now, not the shape you were. The Signature Wool tier, $259 to $299, is the right money for a suit that has to earn its keep in a handful of rooms and then go back to work. Separates if the jacket and the trouser have parted company in size, which after twenty years they usually have.
Fit it once, properly
A consultant measures you on the floor and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, pins it. Bring the old suit too. Sometimes it’s a hem and a press away from a second life, and we will say so.
