Warren Mott had about 1,335 students, Cousino about 1,253 and Fitzgerald about 859. Three high schools in one city, producing three graduating classes of noticeably different sizes, in three rooms with different atmospheres. Almost every piece of advice about a graduation suit varies with those details. One doesn’t.
The one that holds
Buy the shoulder that fits him now. That seam is the only part of a jacket no tailor can relocate, so a suit bought a size up to last is permanently wrong in the one place that can’t be corrected, whatever happens to the rest of him.
What can follow him
Sleeves, waist and hem, all of which Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, can move as a seventeen-year-old changes. Small jobs he can often do while you wait.
And what the tier depends on
Only whether he’s finished growing. Still moving: an Everyday Classic, $139 to $159, and no apology. Finished, and heading somewhere that expects a suit regularly: Signature Wool, $259 to $299. That question comes before the price question, always.
