A father and a son in the same afternoon: his for the office, the boy’s for the St. Mary’s award night or a first wedding at one of the lake clubs. It works because both sizes are on the rack, and because each of them gets a whole fitting.
Two bodies
The father is fitted from stock in a sizing run that goes to 70 long, portly included, so he isn’t sent home to wait for an order. The son is a 36. He’s fitted as a 36. Select suits sell as separates, which matters most for the boy: a jacket in one size and trousers in another, since the two rarely grow at the same speed.
Two budgets, one standard
The son’s first suit is usually an Everyday Classic, $139 to $159, because at sixteen a suit has a shelf life and the price should know it. The father’s is a Signature Wool, $259 to $299, or a half-canvassed suit, $300 to $500, because he’ll wear it for years. Both get the same fitting at the same mirror.
One tailor
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, pins both hems the same visit. From the lakes it’s Orchard Lake Road down to I-696, east to Greenfield, and both suits go home in one car.
