Fairlane Green sits on a former landfill and opened to the public in phases from late 2005. Building anything on that ground is an engineering problem before it is a retail one: what lies underneath determines what can stand on top, and no amount of attention to the storefronts changes that.
A suit has the same relationship to its inside
What holds a jacket’s shape is the layer between the cloth and the lining, which nobody sees and everybody notices the effects of. A well-made chest keeps its line for years; a fused one eventually stops holding and no amount of good cloth compensates.
Which is what the tiers actually describe
Half-canvassed at $300 to $500 has a canvas chest, and that is the difference between a jacket that keeps its shape over a decade and one that doesn’t. The cloth is the visible part and the construction is the ground it stands on.
When it’s worth paying for
Only if the suit will be worn often enough for years to matter. For four occasions a year, the entry tier is honest and sufficient, and nobody on our floor is on commission, so that gets said out loud.
