The Community House is Birmingham’s historic hall, and a second wedding suits it. The couple is older and the guest list is friends rather than relatives. You’ve done this once already, in a rented tuxedo you don’t want to repeat.
Not the first-wedding suit
A second wedding is a suit, not a tuxedo, unless the invitation says otherwise. A charcoal or a deep navy in a wool with some weight, a white shirt, a tie in one color and a pocket square that doesn’t match it. No boutonniere the size of a saucer.
Cut for the man you are
At fifty the shoulders and the middle have both changed since the last time a suit was bought for a wedding, and the fix isn’t a size up. It is a jacket in the right shoulder with room taken or given at the waist, and a trouser at the natural waist. We stock 34 short to 70 long, portly included, same price. Buy the jacket in one size and the trouser in another.
One visit for the rack suit
A consultant on the floor, Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, and about forty-five minutes. Nobody here is on commission, and nobody will try to put you in a tuxedo.
