Birmingham’s downtown holds nearly three hundred retailers. Some of them sell suits. Whether the shop that sold yours has a tailor in the building or not, ours does, and he works on what you bought elsewhere.
We do, and he is not particular about labels
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, alters what you bring: a hem, a sleeve, a waist taken in, a jacket’s sides brought closer. It doesn’t have to have come from our floor. Alterations are walk-in and the basics are often done the same day, depending on the garment and current workload.
What is basic and what is not
A hem, a sleeve and a waist are basic. Reworking the body of a jacket, or a shoulder, is real work; Roman will look at the garment and tell you what it needs and what it costs before he starts, and if the honest answer is that it will never fit right, you’ll hear that too.
Bring the shoes
A trouser hem is cut to the heel it will be worn with, so bring the shoe. From Old Woodward it is south on Woodward and west on I-696 to Greenfield; the showroom is just south of the exit.
