On summer evenings the In the Park concerts fill Shain Park, downtown Birmingham sits on the grass, and the men who look put together are not the ones who thought hardest about the shirt. They are the ones whose trousers were right.
Cotton or a summer wool, never the suit trouser
A suit trouser worn alone looks like half a suit. A cotton trouser in tan or stone, or a lightweight wool in a mid-gray, sits on grass, survives a folding chair and still looks dressed when you stand up to talk to a neighbor. A soft shirt, a loafer, and a jacket over the arm for when the sun goes.
The hem is everything in a trouser worn alone
Without a jacket to hold the eye, a trouser that puddles on the shoe or floats above it is the whole picture. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, hems to the loafer, not to the dress shoe, and that is basic work, often the same day, depending on the garment and current workload.
Trousers on their own
Our trousers come off their own rail, so a summer trouser is bought in your waist, not the waist a suit happened to come with.
