Bloomfield Hills Country Club has stood since 1909, its course by Harry Colt since 1913, and a golden anniversary dinner in its rooms is one of the things it was built for. The couple has been photographed together for fifty years. The husband wants the last set of photographs to look like the first ones did.
Buy the size you are
A man of seventy-five is not the shape he was at fifty, and the suit in the closet from the fortieth is not the answer. Our rack runs 34 short to 70 long, portly included, same price, and separates let the jacket and the trouser come in different sizes, which after seventy-five years they should.
Cloth for a long evening seated
A wool with some weight holds a press through a dinner and a speech; a light cloth creases at the lap by the second course. Charcoal, or a deep navy. A white shirt against a face that has earned it.
What Roman does with the old one
Bring it anyway. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, will look at the jacket from the fortieth and tell you honestly whether a waist let out and a sleeve reset will bring it back, or whether the evening deserves a new one. Nobody on our floor is on commission. If the old jacket will do, that’s what you’ll hear.
