Bowers School Farm on Square Lake Road has belonged to Bloomfield Hills Schools since 1967, ninety-three acres of barns and fields, and every fall its festival fills the wagons with families. A father who wants to look like he made an effort has to do it in a jacket that will meet straw, a donkey and a four-year-old with a caramel apple.
A jacket you do not protect
Not the suit jacket from the office; a sturdier one, in a cloth with some texture that hides what an afternoon does to it, over a sweater or a flannel shirt. It’s the jacket that lives in the car from October to November.
Separates, obviously
A jacket bought alone in your jacket size, over trousers bought alone in yours, from the rails on our floor where select suits are sold as separates. Nothing matches and nothing should.
The one thing the tailor still does
Even a jacket meant to get dirty looks wrong with a sleeve that swallows the hand. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, sets the sleeve as basic work, often the same day, depending on the garment and current workload. After that the jacket looks intended for the rest of its life.
