Most of Bloomfield Hills comes to Greenfield Road for one room, and it isn’t the one with thirty-two thousand suits in it. It’s the custom room, where Ben builds a suit to twenty measurements from cloth off the bolt. The first appointment is the one people are unsure about, so here it is in order.
The first appointment
You talk about where the suit will be worn and how often, because that decides the cloth before anything else does. Then the mills: Reda, Zegna, VBC, Marzotto, Style Biella, in swatches you can hold. Then twenty measurements, standing, which take longer than you expect and are the reason the suit fits.
The fittings
Two to three, spaced out while the suit is built. The last is with Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, and it is the one where the sleeve and the hem are set to your shoe and your shirt. Bring both.
What it costs and how long it takes
Custom starts at $599. How long it runs turns on the cloth you pick and the gaps between two to three fittings, so ask Ben for the current timeline for your date and put the appointment in the calendar when the occasion goes in. We’re open to 8 on Thursdays if the workweek is the problem. Woodward south, I-696 west, off at Greenfield.
