Commerce Township was settled as a resort destination. Some of it never stopped being one. If your wedding is at the family’s place on the water, there is no ballroom and no banquet manager, and nothing about the room tells the groom what to wear. That is the hard part.
Dress for the photograph
A backyard on a lake photographs like any outdoor wedding: daylight, water, wind. Navy or a mid gray with some texture holds up in that light. Black goes flat. A shiny blend goes white. Ask for a wool with some surface to it, in a weight for the month, and it breathes once the sun is off the water.
The party sets the tone
With no venue doing it, the party has to. Everyone from one rack in one cloth, on one order, so eight men on a dock read as a wedding and not as a cookout that got dressed up. With a party that size, ask about group pricing for parties of five or more.
Grass, and the hem
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, pins every hem to the shoes each man will actually wear on a lawn, which are rarely the shoes he thinks he’ll wear. Bring the real pair.
