Oakland Community College’s Orchard Ridge campus has been on Orchard Lake Road since 1967, and some of the people finishing a degree there are forty. They have a job, and the degree is for the next one. The suit for that next one is a different purchase from a first suit, and the difference is that he already knows what he doesn’t like about the last one.
Start from the last suit
Bring it. A consultant can read a man’s old suit in a minute: where it pulled, where it was let out, what he stopped wearing it for. That’s the brief for the new one, and it saves the half hour of guessing.
Buy the job, not the ceremony
The commencement is one afternoon. The interviews after it are the suit’s real work, so buy for them: navy or charcoal, plain, Signature Wool at $259 to $299, fitted to the shoes he’ll interview in.
The fit at forty
A body at forty isn’t the one the rack was cut for at twenty-five, and the rack knows it: 34 short to 70 long, portly included. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, takes it from there.
