Macomb Mall has stood at Gratiot and Masonic since 1964, and generations of this city learned to shop inside it. The method it taught is browsing: go without a firm plan, see what’s out, buy what appeals. That works for most of a household’s clothing and it fails for one category in a way that isn’t obvious.
Why suits resist browsing
Because whether a suit is any good for you depends entirely on whether your specific size and cut exist in it. Browsing tells you what a shop happens to have. It cannot tell you what fits, because usually only one or two things do.
What replaces it
Going deliberately somewhere that holds depth, being measured, and then trying several in the size that measurement produces. It’s a different activity from browsing and it takes about the same amount of time.
What depth looks like
32,000 suits on one floor with a range from 34 short to 70 long including portly. From Gratiot, I-696 at the I-94 interchange runs west to Greenfield.
