If you are the groom and you want the one suit in the room that was actually made for you, the road from Royal Oak is straight. Get on I-696 at Main or Woodward, get off at Greenfield, and ask for Ben.
Twenty measurements and the cloth
The first visit is the measurements, twenty of them, and the cloth. Ben will put the bolts in your hands rather than on a screen, Reda and Zegna and VBC among them. Custom starts at $599, which is the number people don’t believe until they’re standing in the room.
Two to three fittings
The first fitting is the shape of the thing: the shoulder, the length, where the button sits. The second gets into the details, like the sleeve against the shirt cuff, the trouser break, and the lapel width you chose against the width of your face. If the second turns anything up, there’s a third. Every measurement and every fitting happens in Oak Park.
What the rack cannot do
The rack can’t cut a jacket to your shoulders when they aren’t a standard shape. Custom can. The party’s rentals can be matched to the color you pick, and you’ll wear the suit to every wedding after your own.
Start early, and ask Ben for the current timeline for your date. A wedding in June wants the first fitting well before the invitations go out, so the party gets fitted around you and not the other way around.
