Athens High School on John R has been sending graduates out since 1974, and the photograph that survives is not the one of the diploma. It is the one outside afterward, the graduate in a gown and his father beside him, and the father is the only person in it wearing his own clothes.
Dress for the sun
Outdoors, midday, full sun. A navy or a mid-gray suit in a light cloth looks formal without wilting; black absorbs the heat. A white shirt, a tie in a color from the school if you like, a pocket square, and the jacket stays on for the picture.
The fit that matters in a photograph
A jacket buttoned over a stomach it was bought before pulls at the button and the camera sees it first. Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, can let a jacket out where there is cloth to let, and can tell you honestly when there isn’t. Separates, a jacket in one size and a trouser in another, solve the rest.
Come in the month before; the week of, every father in Troy has the same idea. From Athens, I-75 south to I-696 west, and we are at the Greenfield exit.
