Somerset opened in 1969, added Somerset South in 1992 and Somerset North in 1996, and its windows carry the best-known names in menswear. Troy men go there to try things on. Then some of them get on I-75 and come to us, and this is why.
The cloth is the cloth
A suit’s label is a name. Its cloth is from a mill, and the mills are a short list: Reda, Zegna, VBC, Marzotto, Style Biella. Custom from us starts at $599, and those mills are on the table above that. When you have felt a jacket at Somerset that you liked, you have felt the mill’s work. The same mills, cut to your measurements.
What twenty measurements changes
Ben takes twenty. A rack suit fits a size; a custom suit fits a person, which is the difference between a shoulder that sits and a shoulder that almost does. Two to three fittings over the build, and the last one is with Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store.
When the rack is the answer
Often it will. Our Half-Canvassed Luxury tier, $300 to $500, is premium-mill cloth bought as closeouts and cut properly, and nobody on the floor is on commission, so if the rack suit is the right suit for you, that is what you’ll be told.
