Most men who own two suits own two very different objects. One gets worn constantly and lives in rotation. The other comes out twice a year for weddings and funerals. They wear out in opposite ways, and neither one fails in the manner its owner expects.
The one worn constantly
Fails at the cloth. The seat and the elbows go shiny, the trouser thins where it rubs. The fit stays fine for years and the fabric doesn’t, and when the cloth has gone through there is nothing a tailor can do.
The one worn twice a year
Fails at the fit. The cloth is untouched a decade later, but the man wearing it isn’t the same shape, and each time it comes out the gap has widened slightly. This one is almost always rescuable.
Which is the point
Bring the twice-a-year suit in rather than replacing it. The waist, seat, sleeves and sides are all reachable, and Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, on site in our store, often does the small jobs while you wait, and for bigger work he quotes the job and confirms the completion date before he starts.
