From West Bloomfield the drive is Orchard Lake Road down to I-696, east to the Greenfield exit, and the showroom is just south of it. There are stores closer to the lakes that sell suits. Here’s what’s at the end of the drive that they don’t have.
The floor
Thirty-two thousand suits, on the rack, in sizes from 34 short to 70 long with portly in between. That number matters most to the men the closer stores send away: the tall one, the broad one, the one who’s between two sizes. Here he’s fitted from stock, at the rack price, and nothing is ordered special.
The tailor
Roman, master tailor at Lincoln Tailor, works on site in our store. The suit you choose and the man who fits it are in the same building, so the hem is pinned the day you buy, and small jobs he can often do while you wait. For bigger work, he quotes the job and confirms the completion date before he starts.
The counter
Nobody on our floor is on commission. That changes what you’re told. A consultant with nothing riding on the ticket will send you to the $139 rack when that’s the right suit, and to the $500 one only when it is. Bring the occasion, and the drive home is I-696 and Orchard Lake Road, the way you came.
