People forget the Detroit Zoo is in Royal Oak until they’re standing in it in July. The ceremony is outdoors, and an outdoor ceremony in a Michigan summer is a cloth question before it is a style question.
Cloth that breathes on a lawn
Our Signature Wool line, $259 to $299, is real wool in the weights that breathe. Most of it is 100% wool and the tag tells you which. That is the line we point a summer party toward, because a synthetic blend holds heat the way it holds a press.
Color for four in the afternoon
Color is the second question. Black tuxedos photograph beautifully in a theater and look heavy on a lawn at four in the afternoon. A mid-gray or a navy suit, cut the same across the party, reads as formal without cooking anyone. If you want tuxedos anyway, we have them to rent or to own. If we think a suit would serve you better, we’ll tell you.
Grass, gravel and the hem
The third question is the ground. Grass and gravel are hard on a dress shoe and hard on a hem that was cut for a ballroom. Roman at Lincoln Tailor takes the trouser to a break that clears the ground, so nobody is dragging a cuff through the paddock. Basic work is often done the same day, depending on the garment and current workload.
Book the fitting for the whole party at once. Every measurement goes on one sheet, and if some groomsmen are flying in, ask the wedding team what timing works for them.
