Shrine Catholic High School sits on West Thirteen Mile beside the National Shrine of the Little Flower. A Catholic school calendar is full of days that call for a jacket: homecoming, a confirmation, a funeral Mass for a grandparent, prom, and the graduation photo on the Basilica steps.
Navy or charcoal, and why
A first suit has to survive all of those without a second purchase. That points to two things. Navy or charcoal, because those are the two colors that are never wrong at any of them. And a cut with room to let out, because a fifteen-year-old in September isn’t the same size in May.
Where separates earn their keep
Boys don’t grow evenly. Select suits in our store come as separates, so a jacket in one size can be paired with trousers in another, instead of forcing a growing boy into one size that only half fits. Our stylists will say when the cheaper suit is the right call, and for a first suit it usually is: Everyday Classics runs $139 to $159.
The alteration that makes it his
Off the rack, it’s close. Roman at Lincoln Tailor is inside the store, so the sleeves and the hem are done here. The basics are often done the same day, and when they are, the suit goes home finished rather than pinned.
From Thirteen Mile, Greenfield Road runs south to the showroom. Walk in any afternoon we’re open, or book a fitting so a consultant is waiting.
