Corewell Health’s William Beaumont University Hospital at Thirteen Mile and Woodward is Royal Oak’s largest employer. A suit for an interview there is one of the reasons a man walks in on a weekday morning.
The room the interview happens in
A hospital interview happens in a conference room under fluorescent light, across a table from people who wear scrubs most of the week. The suit that wins that room is quiet. Go navy or charcoal, with a plain white or light blue shirt and a tie with one idea in it. Nothing should ask to be looked at. Everything should fit.
Fit is the whole job
And it’s the part a mall doesn’t do. A consultant measures you on our floor, then Roman at Lincoln Tailor, inside the store, takes the sleeve, the waist and the hem to your body. Hems and sleeves are often done the same day, depending on the garment and current workload. Tell the consultant the interview is Thursday and Roman will tell you straight whether Thursday is possible.
What to spend
On price, be honest with yourself about how often you will wear it. If this is the first of many, Signature Wool at $259 to $299 is real wool that won’t look tired by the third interview. If it is one interview and then scrubs forever, Everyday Classics at $139 to $159 does the day with dignity.
We are open to 7 Monday through Wednesday, to 8 on Thursdays, and to 6 on Fridays, which is late enough to come straight off a shift. Nobody here is on commission, so the advice is the advice.
